About The Godfoe Universe: APOLLYON 20XX:
A powerful group of elites known as The Order have manipulated world events for centuries from the shadows. Now, in the near future, this Order has created GOD, a machine capable of influencing the minds of the world’s population, one on the cusp of global domination. However, for GOD to be operational, a bond with a human host is needed. The recent discovery of an incredible new element, “Imperimetal,” has provided the means of merging man and machine.
Experiments with Imperimetal have produced Augments, individuals with incredible and unpredictable powers. Among them is a man known only as Xero, the prime candidate for the GOD project. However, he has escaped The Order and rallied with him a small band of young, like-minded Augments. Together, they seek to end The Order before GOD can be completed and the world brought to its knees.
WHAT MAKES COMIC A LEGITIMATE FORM OF ART FOR YOU?
Adams: Art is creative expression. Regardless of the form, it takes or whether an individual “likes” it, that creative expression will always be legitimate art. Comics just like films can run the gamut from trashy and exploitative to brilliant and philosophical. Like all art the medium is subjective.
WHAT COMICS BROUGHT YOU INTO THIS FIELD THE MOST?
Adams: My early love for classic Marvel and DC forms the foundation, but the first book to really open my eyes to what comics can be and made me want to someday work in that arena was Alan Moore’s run on swamp thing. Other big influences were Akira, Spawn, and more recently Tokyo Ghost.
TELL US MORE ABOUT GODFOE!
Adams: The Godfoe Universe is something special because the story spans such a long time allowing for each era to have its own unique tone while still furthering the larger narrative. There are elements of so many things that we love, but repurposed in a fresh way. What I’m most proud of is that the story is so fully fleshed out that we will never have to retcon or reboot to correct the established canon.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE LEGACY COMIX?
Adams: I met Patrick while recording an episode of the Loot Bros. Comic Cast and instantly saw a kindred spirit. Here was a dude whose passion and work ethic matched my own. Becoming a part of the legacy team just made sense and came about organically. This is a company that is going to shake up the comics industry in a way it has needed for a long time.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE LEGACY COMIC? WHY?
Adams: The Job is definitely my favorite of Legacy’s current set of books. Not only is Keiran’s art phenomenal in that old school gritty style, but the storyline combines two of my favorite genres: heist action and pro wrestling.
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ADD TO THE LEGACY LINEUP?
Adams: Hopefully a unique and exciting art style and I believe Godfoe offers storytelling in a very different genre pool than the other legacy titles.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR GODFOE?
Adams: Godfoe is here to become the next multimedia sensation. Today it is comics but someday it will be everywhere you look. I see video games, anime adaptations, novels… you name it. We plan to entertain you for decades.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Adams: On the horizon the first full volumes of Apollyon 20XX and Biophile Kolga will be available along with the first of the Blackstar novel series.
