Legacy Comix is all about promoting our creators, so from time to time, we’ll take them away from work to answer some questions so you can connect with them a little more.
First up, our Co-Founder and Editor-In-Chief, Patrick Hickey Jr.!
Legacy Comix: What was the first comic you remember reading?
Patrick Hickey Jr.: I still cannot find it anywhere, but it was a Spider-Man vs. Puma comic from the late ‘80s. Spidey got beat up pretty bad but came back strong. That fight made me a comic book fan for life.
Legacy Comix: Who is your guilty pleasure super hero? A character you love that people might not expect?
Hickey Jr.: Absolutely Darkhawk. He’s so ‘90s and I love the new stuff, but that original run was so much fun for me.
Legacy Comix: Why are comics special to you?
Hickey Jr.: Because they are essentially The Greek myths and epics of today. They combine literature and art. I mean, is there a more expressive medium out there?
Legacy Comix: If you could collaborate with any creator, who would it be? Why?
Hickey Jr.: This is so hard, but it’s a toss up between Michael Avon Oeming and Eric Powell. Both I think would be able to take my writing to a whole other level. Their art is insane and they are phenomenal writers. I’d love to be under their learning tree. Just from a few e-mails I’ve exchanged with Michael over the years he’s taught me a ton- and it’s absolutely had an impact on Condrey and Powell’s The Goon is one of my favorite series ever.
Legacy Comix: What are your goals for 2022 with Legacy?
Hickey Jr: To make sure that not only the books I’m writing succeed, but that our two other series, Athos and The Legend of the Night Owl thrive and find an audience. They are just as important to Legacy’s vision as my work.
