Legacy Comix is proud to announce they will produce a limited edition comic for the Ruth Stage’s Off Broadway production of Lone Star this Fall in New York City. The comic will also be available for free in Digital Format on the Legacy Online Shop this December. Legacy’s Patrick Hickey Jr. will script and letter the book while Chris Booth (Young Condrey, Doorslash) will pencil, ink and color the 12-page book.
“I’ve said from day one, we are different from every other comic book company,” Legacy Comix Editor-In-Chief Patrick Hickey Jr. said. “Before comics, I spent almost 20 years as an entertainment journalist covering professional sports, pro wrestling, music, gaming and theatre. It would be crazy to not want to bring comics into those mediums. We’re extremely thankful for this budding relationship with Ruth Stage and the opportunities that come with it. Together, we’re going to do something special.”
Matt de Rogatis (‘Brick’ in Ruth Stage’s off-Broadway premiere of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) will star as ‘Roy’ in the upcoming off-Broadway premiere of James McLure’s dark comedy Lone Star, playing Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). He joins the previously announced leads Ryan McCartan (Wicked, Frozen, Heathers The Musical, Fox’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show) as ‘Cletis’ and Ana Isabelle (‘Rosalia’ in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story) as ‘Elizabeth.’
Directed by Joe Rosario, Lone Star is set to begin preview performances on Saturday, November 25, with an opening night set for Sunday, December 3. The strictly limited engagement is set to run through Saturday, December 23, 2023.
“Ruth Stage is excited to be partnering with Patrick Hickey Jr. and Legacy Comix. While the immediate agreement is for our upcoming production of Lone Star, we expect this to turn into a working, long-term partnership between two maverick companies. As Chairman and Creative Director of Ruth Stage, I’m always looking for new and innovative ways to present theatre by breaking traditional molds and standards,” Ruth Stage’s Matt de Rogatis said. “The partnership with Legacy Comix is part of that journey and another step in our evolution.”
